Pianist Ian Scarfe, founder and director of the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival, makes a rare North-State appearance as a soloist.
This program will take the audience on a musical journey, exploring the great works and influences of the stellar Romantic composer Frederic Chopin. Selections will include Barcarolle, Bolero, and selected Preludes, as well as other works by J.S. Bach, Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados, and more. The musical adventures will take us from Chopin's Polish roots to his many years spent living in Paris, to his vacation-gone-wrong in Mallorca, and his vacation-that-never-was in Venice.
Scarfe is a prodigious performer, appearing in more than 100 concerts each year across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Aside from his dedicated work with the Trinity Alps Chamber Music Festival in bringing classical chamber music to rural North State communities, Scarfe also brings music to people in dozens of senior residences across the world, and younger audiences with his highly successful series of house concerts. He lives in San Francisco, where he studied and currently teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
